My Approach
My Approach to Couple Counselling.
Supportive, practical counselling for couples experiencing conflict, disconnection, or relationship strain.
Relationships can become stuck in painful patterns
When communication breaks down, couples often find themselves repeating the same arguments, withdrawing from each other, or feeling increasingly disconnected.
In counselling, we slow these moments down and explore what may be happening beneath the surface without blame or taking sides.
How I work with couples
My approach is supportive, collaborative, and grounded in helping both partners feel heard and understood.
Rather than focusing only on the immediate argument, we look at the patterns underneath the conflict:
how communication breaks down
emotional reactions
unmet needs
ways couples become stuck in cycles of disconnection
From there, we begin creating safer and more constructive ways of responding to each other.
Over time, couples often notice:
conversations feel calmer and less reactive
greater understanding between partners
less defensiveness and withdrawal
improved emotional connection
more confidence navigating difficult conversations
Take the first step
If you’re wondering whether counselling may help your relationship, you’re welcome to get in touch or book an initial session.
Counselling is not about deciding who is right and who is wrong
The aim is not to assign blame, but to better understand what happens between you and support meaningful change in the relationship.
This approach may be helpful if:
communication feels difficult or repetitive
emotional distance has developed
trust has been impacted
conflict continues without resolution
you feel uncertain about the future of the relationship
