New Year, a New Start!
Many of us have given up on making new year resolutions, but hang on, “It might just be the kick start you need!”
Looking back over the last year gives chance to reassess what has happened and in particular the state of our relationships. On reflecting your intimate relationship, you may ask yourself:
what has been satisfying?
what has been frustrating?
what would you like to see changed?
where would you like to see progress?
To address these topics good communication is essential to avoid a defensive response. We need to take the blame out of our statements by using ‘we’ instead of you,
for example, we could do this …………………. or by using ‘I’, I think we could ……………
The use of the word ‘we’ is conducive to a conversation that will involve you both, you become a team!
Before making a new year resolution to address possible issues in your couple relationship arrange an appointment with Hope Springs where you will be guided and assisted to improve your communication. This year’s resolution will be a resolution that could change your relationship for the better and one that could last for ever!
